82. SCC Minerals Plan Feedback report on Consultation, August 2008 -

Para 2.43 "Eashing Farm is identified in the draft Surrey Minerals Plan (preferred option) as a Preferred Area (N) for soft sand extraction. This is and always has been the primary purpose of identifying the Preferred Area. The borehole data reveals the presence of Bargate Stone horizons within the sandstone and consequently if the Preferred Area is worked for soft sand, Bargate Stone could be a by-product. As the stone has been used in buildings across south-west Surrey for hundreds of years and there is a potential market for it in building conservation and restoration, as well as perhaps individual new build projects, it would be sensible to stockpile it."
